How was it Humanly Possible? - A Study of Perpetrators and Bystanders during The Holocaust

A curriculum that examines how human beings willingly participated in the mass murder of millions of Jewish men, women and children. Specific case studies are presented and examined through historical documents, testimonies, photographs, literature and art. The cases recount the stories of perpetrators, bystanders, and some of the exceptional men and women who maintained their humanity and refused to participate in the genocide of the Jewish people. The unit explores both the unique circumstances and universal features that characterized human behavior in World War II. The unit contains: A resource book A teacher's guide and CD-ROM containing computerized copies of photographs and other materials.
