Soviet Media on the Fate of Jews in Nazi-Occupied Territory 1939-1941

The Molotov–Ribbentrop pact led to the Soviet media’s deliberate overlooking of the Nazi persecution of Jews and therefore indirectly affected the rescue of Jews in Soviet territory. Even Jewish communists followed this line. However, most Jews were uninformed of the atrocities committed in Nazi-occupied Poland, which may explain their unwillingness to flee the advancing German armies while they still had time to do so.
