The War Against the Jews 1933-1945 - on Lucy Dawidowicz’s Book
This is a review of Lucy Dawidowicz’s one-volume history of the Holocaust. In his review, Yehuda Bauer correctly commented that the Holocaust cannot be covered by one author in 350 pages. The author concentrates on a limited geographical area, and her book cannot be considered comprehensive. Furthermore, her analysis of Hitler’s Final Solution could have been deeper and clearer. The membership of the Judenräte and the underground movements was very varied and not mainly Bundists as Dawidowicz suggests. Nevertheless, the book is convincingly written and has reached a wide English-speaking public.
