In April 2002, well-known Holocaust survivors, scholars and leading educators gathered at Yad Vashem, Jerusalem, to examine the legacy of Holocaust survivors and to ensure its transmission to future generations. The international conference opened on Holocaust Remembrance Day, Yom Hashoah, and lasted three days. This book provides excerpts from the speakers' remarks at this unique and historic conference, including among others: Elie Wiesel, Imre Kertesz, Aharon Appelfeld, Simone Veil, Per Ahlmark and Samuel Pisar.
