Two Forms of Resistance in the Warsaw Ghetto - Two Functions of the Ringelblum Archives

Two forms of resistance in the Warsaw ghetto are described. The first consisted of civil resistance — organizing social help, underground teaching, the founding of the archives by Emanuel Ringelblum, etc. This form of resistance was dominant in the ghetto up to the mass deportations. The second form, after 1942, was armed resistance, which culminated in the ghetto uprising in April 1943 led by the Jewish Fighters’ Organization. Young fighters of the ghetto uprising are profiled.
