""Designing Memory"" Competition

 The Official Commemorative Poster

The winning poster in the ""Designing Memory"" competition, an ongoing initiative of Yad Vashem together with the Israel Ministry of Public Diplomacy. The winning design, created by graphic artist  was selected by Or Siton a distinguished panel of artists and Holocaust education experts out of almost 80 entries, and is being distributed and displayed across Israel to mark Yom HaShoah 2023.

תערוכה זו ובה מבחר ציורים מתוך אוסף יד ושם, מבקשת לפתוח צוהר אל אמנות שנוצרה בתקופת השואה: בגטאות, במחנות ובמסתור.

הציורים משקפים את המתח בין הצורך לתעד את המאורעות לבין הרצון להפליג באמצעות האמנות אל מחוזות היופי, הדמיון והאמונה.

ציורים אלה הם עדות לרוח האדם הניצבת איתנה ומסרבת להיכנע.

החברה היהודית בשואה עברה משברים חברתיים ומשפחתיים קשים ביותר. ילדים שחיו במציאות זו איבדו את ילדותם ולמעשה בין לילה הפכו רבים מהם לילדים-מבוגרים.

בתערוכה זו הציורים, השירים, המכתבים והמשחקים מציגים מבט מרגש ומרתק אל חיי הילדים בתקופת השואה. על אף תנאי חייהם והמצבים הבלתי אפשריים שבהם מצאו את עצמם, החיוניות, היצירתיות, הדמיון, והאופטימיות, מעידים על היכולות הטמונות באותם ילדים.

התערוכה נותנת ביטוי לקולן הייחודי של הנשים היהודיות בשואה, לבחירותיהן ותגובותיהן, למול הרוע, הקשיים והאכזריות עמם נאלצו להתמודד.

בתערוכה מוצגים תשעה נושאים מחיי היומיום של האשה היהודייה, כאשר כל נושא מלווה בסיפור אישי: אהבה, אימהות, הטיפול באחר, נשיות, התנגדות, חברות, אמונה, אוכל ויצירה.

התגובות מובאות אלינו בקולן של הנשים המספרות, וכך חושפת התערוכה את הסיפור האישי שמאחורי הסיפור ההיסטורי, ומחלצת את הנשים על קולותיהן ותווי פניהן מקרב הרוב הדומם.
