This series focuses on the story of religious Jewry during the Holocaust within a general historical context as well as a broader Jewish context. It sheds light on the experiences and values of Orthodox Jewry – individuals as well as communities – while at the same time, meets the standards of academic historiography. Each volume in the series is devoted to a major issue or period in the history of the Shoah. The First volume explores the lives of Orthodox Jews in Germany in the 1930s and the churban (destruction) of the Orthodox Jewish community during the Second World War. The second volume examines the ghetto period, and the Third one focuses on rescue work during the Holocaust, the Fourth Volume focuses on the Final Solution.
